Craig M. Johnson is of counsel to the Firm's Creditors’ Rights Practice Group. Mr. Johnson specializes in bankruptcy and creditor rights and represents corporate and individual debtors, Chapter 11 trustees, secured creditors and unsecured creditors in assorted matters. Mr. Johnson also practices commercial litigation in both federal and New York state courts. Mr. Johnson has been actively involved in numerous matters on behalf of the Firm's clients, including transactions in the construction, real estate and telecommunications industries. Prior to his employment at the Firm, Mr. Johnson was of counsel to Nassau County law firm where he practiced bankruptcy and commercial litigation. He began his legal career at a major New York City law firm, where he was an associate in the Business Reorganization & Restructuring Department and represented the Firm's clients in several complex bankruptcy case including Harvard Industries, Inc. (Debtor’s counsel), Starter Corporation (Debtor’s counsel) and Marvel Entertainment (Creditors’ Committee counsel). In addition to his law practice, Mr. Johnson is member of the New York State legislature, representing 7th Senate District, which encompasses the entire Town of North Hempstead as well as the communities of Elmont, Floral Park, South Floral Park, Stewart Manor, Bellerose, Bellerose Terrace, and parts of Franklin Square and Hicksville. He made history by becoming the first Democratic representative of the District in a century. Mr. Johnson serves on the Senate Local Government, Ethics, and Environmental Conservation committees. Prior to being elected to the State Senate, Mr. Johnson served four terms in the Nassau County Legislature, where he was the youngest-ever chairman of the Finance Committee. Mr. Johnson earned his BA, magna cum laude, from Amherst College and received his Juris Doctor degree from St. John's University, where he graduated in the top seven percent of his class and was an editor on the law review.
