Joan M. Gibbons Quinn, is an associate in the firm’s Tax Certiorari and Condemnation Law Group where she concentrates in the area of commercial and residential tax certiorari. Immediately prior to joining Jaspan Schlesinger , Ms. Quinn served as Principal Law Clerk to Justice Joseph A. DeMaro of the Nassau County Supreme Court assigned to the Tax Certiorari Part. Ms. Quinn assisted in implementing new filing and trial procedures for commercial litigation as well as advised on procedures for Hearing Officers in Small Claim Assessment Review. Ms. Quinn is also certified as a Small Claims Assessment Review Hearing Officer. Ms. Quinn served as Principal Law Clerk to Court of Claims Justice Harold Fertig, sitting in Supreme Court Kings County Criminal Part. She has undertaken other appointments as a court attorney in the Nassau County Supreme Court Law Department, as well as the Nassau County District Court Law Department. Ms. Quinn graduated from Hofstra University School of Law in 1981. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York, as well as the Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Ms. Quinn currently serves as Co-Chair of the Garden City Community Council on Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention. Ms. Quinn is a former Board member of the Nassau County Woman’s Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association Academy of Law. Since 1999 she has been a vital part of the area team for coordination of Operation Christmas Child on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse. Ms. Quinn has served in various capacities on the executive board of the Garden City Parent Teacher Association and Garden City Centennial Soccer Club.
