Jack Mitnick is of counsel to the Firm's Corporate and Commercial Transaction Practice Group, its Real Estate Practice Group and its Trusts and Estates Practice Group, operating in all areas of tax law, income as well as estate and gift. His practice includes income tax planning for transactions and business organizational structures, estate planning, representation of clients before the Internal Revenue Service and in state tax audits, administrative hearings and court proceedings. Mr. Mitnick has lectured on various estate planning and tax topics. Prior to joining Jaspan Schlesinger LLP, Mr. Mitnick practiced as a sole practitioner and, subsequently, as a partner of a New York law firm. His responsibilities included the areas described above as well as the areas of real estate, business organizations and other contractual matters. Mr. Mitnick received his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1960 from the New York University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the Courts of New York, the United States Tax Court and the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He is an active member and past chair of the Tax Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association and a member of the Association's Surrogate's Court, Trust and Estates Committee. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and its Trusts and Estates Law Section, the American Bar Association and its Tax Section and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. He has served as a program lecturer for the Nassau County and New York State Bar Associations. Mr. Mitnick is also licensed in New York as a certified
public accountant. He is a member of the New York State Society of Certified
Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
and its Tax Division.
