Michael Permut is a partner in the firm's
Real Estate and Litigation
Practice Groups. He practices primarily in the field of title insurance
claims litigation and in real estate mortgage and transactions matters.
He represents numerous Long Island builders and developers.
Mr. Permut received his Juris Doctor from New York University School
of Law in 1954 and his undergraduate degree in economics from the Wharton
School of Finance and Commerce of the University of Pennsylvania in 1951.
He is admitted to practice law in the State Courts of New York as well
as the Eastern and Southern Federal District Courts of New York. Mr. Permut
has authored several articles for the New York Law Journal covering the
examination and insurance of real property titles in New York and lectured
at the New York State Bar Association's Real Property Annual Meeting and
the New York State Land Title Association's Annual Meeting. He was the
consultant for the chapters on "Action to Recover Real Property"
and "Action to Compel Determination of Claims to Real Property"
in West’s McKinney's Forms for Real Property Practice. He has argued
landmark real property matters in the Court of Appeals and the various
Appellate Divisions in the State and has litigated many Federal and State
Court cases involving real property. He is a member of the Real Estate
Committee of the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County and
Suffolk County Bar Associations, the New York Court Lawyers Association
and the New York State Land Title Association.
