Stephen B. Hand is a partner in the firm's Trusts and Estates Practice Group, where he specializes in fiduciary litigation including contested probate, contested accountings, discovery proceedings, inter vivos trust litigation, heirship proceedings, and construction proceedings. In addition, Mr. Hand practices in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, and estate taxation. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hand was a named partner of a prestigious boutique trusts and estates law firm and a partner of a major law firm in Manhattan. He has also served as an attorney with the Estate Tax Section of the Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Hand received his LLB in 1967 from St. John's University and his Masters in Law in 1973 from New York University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in New York, the United States Tax Court and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Mr. Hand is past Chair of the Surrogate's Court Trusts and Estates Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association and is the past Chair of its Committee on Continuing Legal Education. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the New York State Bar Association and is Co-Chair of its Committee on Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Hand co-authored Probate and Administration of New York Estates published by the New York State Bar Association and is currently authoring and updating Matthew Bender's Treatise on Contested Probate Proceedings. Mr. Hand is a Fellow of the American College of Trust
and Estate Counsel. He has been the Chair and Program Coordinator of numerous
New York State Bar and Nassau County Bar presentations dealing with Estate
Litigation and Estate Administration.
