Jaspan Schlesinger LLP Provides Counsel to Southern Container Corp. in $851 Million Merger

Southern Container Corp., a leading independent U.S. manufacturer of corrugated boxes, graphics packaging, and containerboard, announced that it has reached agreement to merge with Rock-Tenn Company for $851 million in cash. The transaction is expected to close in March 2008. David E. Paseltiner, a partner in Jaspan Schlesinger ’s Corporate and Commercial Transactions Practice Group, has represented Southern Container Corp. for more than 19 years, and represented Southern in this transaction.  In addition to Mr. Paseltiner, real estate partner Stephen P. Epstein, tax attorney Jack Mitnick, and associates Julie Genovese and Jessica Soderberg assisted in the transaction.
